This is a very early build of my ambitious Vigilante mod. At this stage, no customization options are available, and only a few abilities have been added.

Major Bug: If the game is saved while the script is running, the script might not run properly after loading that save.

My goals for this mod are to use it with the various player skins currently available. Current plans are for Batman, The Punisher, Alex Mercer, "Niko Vigilante", and more to be decided later.

So far the script includes the Toggle Alias ability, Equip Throwable Item, Super Jump, Super Speed, Power Drop, and Power Stomp.

Controls are detailed in the readme.

I appreciate all feedback, including bug reports, suggestions, and questions.

Special thanks to JulioNIB for their tutorials and feedback.
Special mention goes to metalwars for the example set by their Batarang script

Found a bug where Niko has the "Ultra Armor" effect after the script is deactivated.

Could you instead of making the running faster make the animation faster too?
Posted on June 18, 2013 7:58PM by Quechus9
It's hard to tell but the normal run animation is being used at 150% normal speed. I'm actually having issues with the whole run ability.

If anyone encounters the major bug I mentioned in the download details, simply die before trying to activate the script again. I just discovered this through tests.

You should add in actual vigilante missions, like muggings and things round the city!

That's in the plans, along with the ability to report criminals to the police.

It doesn't seem to work. When I start the game, I can activate the script and change between the two suits but nothing else works...

@Beerminator1: Two questions

Which version of the game are you running?

Do you get an error in the scripthook console window? (~ key)

I should mention I haven't tested this on game versions lower than 1.0.7.0
Posted on June 19, 2013 4:46PM by Will_I_Beard
@Will_I_Beard: Yeah I'm using 1.0.4.0, the scripthook console doesn't say anything about an error

This is right up my alley, definitely excited for this mod, considering vigilantes are my favorite form of hero. (Superheroes are pansies in tights) So this is gonna be good. Tell me if you want any custom textures, I've been working on something that might be pretty good for this mod...

There's a bug where the animation isn't played after the power drop, neither the effect of impact. However, this is still alpha stage and the mod will have a bright future for sure. v(^_^)

Also, i don't like the effect when you use the power drop. It should be a simple impact effect, no sparks etc. And sometimes there is no real effect after using power drop, cars, peds and so on just float lightly up and drop down. :)

@Shenlong Kazama: I agree that in this early released build, the power drop didn't work out quite well. It usually required holding the button, and I have improved it a bit already.

You also make a good point about the explosion effect, which will be changed to something more fitting.

As to your suggestion about the impact effect of the power drop, I like it too much to completely change, so I will include a second style that crushes only without sending anything into the air.

wow amazing :)

can you make children.gta4 needs them there is no reality without lovers and children in a city.lol

i hope someone makes a scriptwhich enables men and women to hold hands and walk and maybe do the same with small ped models (children)

:)

that would be amazing.

@raghubabu1961: As far as I know, the skeletons used for animation are required to be a certain height, so children aren't possible. However, having two peds walking and holding hands shouldn't be impossible. It is a good suggestion, but I won't be the person to do it.

Hey Will! Just wanted to say that I really love this mod and find it a great alternative to playing GTA in it's regular style.

If I could though, I would like to ask you if you could split the power drop ability to a seperate, smaller script. Many scripts include so many things, but nothing includes JUST a Crysis-style air stomp ability. This does include it and if I want to, I do not have to use other powers from this pack, allowing this to be a great way for me to get access to this power. Even if you don't read this I can still use this script in the way that I want, but it would be cool if you could split it off.

Sorry about posting such a request, but if you will, I have another: Do you think you could also include how if one falls from a high height they do not ragdoll nor fall upon landing? That feature is truly awesome. Thanks!

@Crazee73: It has been some time since I worked on this mod unfortunately, however I will hopefully have an update soon that allows each power to be turned on or off. I have also worked out improved versions of the "super drop" with two main effects.

As for the second request, the process of preventing the ragdoll in my script was actually an easy one that I limited. Using two different checks to see if the player goes airborne I prevent the ragdoll and loop the "flying through air" part of the jump animation. By default I limited it to only work if the player has the super drop power, and a different but similar method is used for the super jumps.
