anyways, everyone should set all their fans to 100% when using this mod
Switched back to 1.2.5. until we find out what it is, maybe it aint compatible with some other mods.
-The sky after about 10 pm turns blue and it looks like it is during the day and it stays that way for the rest of the night.
-Textures look horrible and the image in general seems like it is too sharpened yet it isn't sharp enough.
-The sky is too blue.
-The image looks too washed out with limited image depth.
I have a tweaked version of 1.2.5 that blows this away so I guess I'll be going back to that until these issues get worked out by someone who also has them. I could possibly tweak the config and option files to possibly get this looking better but I don't want to spend all that time fiddling on something that may be a lost cause. I spent hours on my 1.2.5 config file and again, it destroys what I am seeing in 1.3.
I will say that the clouds looked really nice and trees had a good balance of colour saturation and brightness.
1.25 worked fine and looked great on my Steam Version 1.0.7.0, just had that Red Sky bug every now and then and the cutscenes were too bright. But with 1.30, EVERYTHING'S too bright, there's a layer of strong grain over everything and the effects look nowhere near as strong as before, I've gone back to 1.25 and everything's fine again.
I agree with you for me the problems I seem to be facing are the color saturation at night time. Specifically with the new street light effects making cars with bright colors (ex Messian's Supra) with a lammy orange color look really bland and have a sort of matte finish. The street lights remind me of vanilla GTA 4 when you turn of icenhancer. I found out that the new iceshader.fx was casing this. However in day time I seem to get the same problem but not as noticeable.
Other than that the surroundings themselves are amazing it makes standard textures such as in buildings look super amazing!
For now though I'm sticking with 1.2.5 with 1.3 time cycle to finally get rid of my red sky in sunny nights :D
Anyway, good work and to see someone with your dedication to bring a crappy looking game like vanilla GTA 4 to this great piece of art is really inspiring! I thank you ICE!!
The colors in the video look just fine, so any issues you're having probably has to do with your setup being shitty
I have 1.0.4.0 and I just don't like it as much its too bright with colors like red, orange and yellow. I rather stick with 1.2.5!
I will wait until a more safe DLL base for the mod is created, I'm not going to risk my card for these graphics, even though I really want to install it.
And i'm in 1.0.4.0, the mod L3EVO GP BEST(8-7)is far better, beautiful and not laggy.
I did a clean install, and i got non of the "bugs" people complain about, its funny :) Even posted my images on ice and h1's sites.

I still experience the, which should've been gone, red sky at some views (depending on where I'm looking at in-game). I also, as loregnum noted, the blue screen.
Sometimes when weather changes, the screen turns black, and I'll have to change the weather with cheat code. At this point I also experience the screen becomes a lot grainy. Of course it disapears when I change the weather :B

GTA IV Patch 1.0.7.0 < I know it's not fully supported, so I look forward to a iCEnchancer fix that'll get it working 100% for the latest game version :3 And..
I'm not complaining about it. It's just what I experience :) 10/10

You said you're using 1.2.5 with 1.3's time cycle. How exactly do I go about doing that? I'd like to do this as well.
And as most people have already said--I think it 1.3 looks too vibrant and colourful...1.2.5 looked stunning and photo-realistic. Though, I think during the daytime 1.3 looks better than 1.2.5. And yes, I am using 1.0.4.0. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way bashing Ice or 1.3. This mod in general is mind blowing, just I think 1.2.5's lighting is more to my liking.
Well it's quite simple all I did was copy and paste only the following from the timecylc file (1.3) (extra sunny, sunny, sunny windy, and if ..optional.. lighting and fog.) I pasted over 1.2.5 timecylc and I got rid off the red sky at night. The reason I kept the cloudy and drizzle beacuse I liked those from 1.2.5. makes it look photo realistic. Oh and keep the original timecylc modifiers otherwise while in your safehouse the rooms will be dark and I MEAN DARK!!
BTW If you do happen to copy cloudy and drizzle from 1.3 the game will look really dark as well. you can and fix it but I like how it looks. Use the new clouds (icenuages) It looks nice.

I'm not a huge modder or anything, just someone who bought GTAIV and EFLC off steam when it was like $10, so I hope you don't mind if I come back and ask a few more questions if I run into any problems. I dig 1.2.5 and it's photo-realism a lot more than 1.3. 1.3 sorta looks blurry (more blurry) during the night to me. Thanks again!

i am using this on 1.0.7 ( with red sky bug )
, i get 30 -40 fps all the time on ati 5770 1gig . and core i5 760 @3.8 ghz. 4 gigs of ram .
However, I HAVE made the classic mistake of not backing up the game folder first and I would like to try out 1.2.5 to see how great the mod is. Is the only option to re-install the game and re-mod? Or can I somehow downgrade the mod to 1.2.5? Or if anyone knows a simpler way to fix the brightness/bloom issue please let it be known!
Before anyone suggests, this is not just a case of turning the brightness/contrast/saturation down in the game menu!

I don´t knw why but in my game 1.3 looks more irrealistic in terms of colours, especially with red and a little strange grainy with it that looks ugly at 1 meter and horrible at long distances lights included, and I prefer the game with the little general grainy of 1.25. But i like the face sunshine more than 1.25.
Maybe needs a clean installation?

Nice upload. I think you may have provided a solution to an issue I had with 1.25 and H1vltg3's 1.2.5 modified settings with 1.3 timecycles. The sky was really really star-filled to the point where it looks terrible. Will try what you posted in the description tomorrow.
Hold off mate. Star issue still exists. Kind of like the milky way's about to land on liberty city. Ill be trying some new settings soon.
But actually 'played' tonight for an hour or so with the setting from the vid and it looked awesome. Really awesome actually. Only copped the milky way once.
the game runs smooth without the Mod on Geforce, but when i add the Mod it runs on Intel HD Graphic...i think it's because of d3d9.dll which reports Intel HD as the main card... can't change it 1!!

Well I tried it and is does fix the glow of white cars but reds and yellows light blues still glow at the afternoon and night time. So ill stick to using 1.2.5 shaders and 1.3 bloom and rest of what I'm using.

Yeah, using h1vltag3's modified settings for 1.2.5 and 1.3's timecycle and with Definition toggled off the sky is filled with stars--they're pretty ugly. Toggle it off and it looks alright but I like the motion blur.
But my Desktop it way better!
Won't post yet till I try it. last version was great just the dark corners on the screen annoyed me. Plus the sloew feeling and building not showing upright. Sad:(
I tried darkening the star png image which helped a bit (I think that even a small amount of stars get amplified too much by the brightness of the mod).
Then I noted the worst times for galaxy star effect under each weather condition. I mapped the best star weather condition data over worst (just for the affected times). I found Sunny Windy to look the best.
So at the end of the day, I have copied 'Sunny Windy' (evening through to morning) settings across the same time period for sunny, extra sunny and extra sunny2.
The game looked even more awesome and I only had a tiny moment which was (a little), star heavy. Also, still have a red tail light when flying.
So i'll keep tweaking tonight and hopefully get it spot on. The bloom is still problematic, but I can handle it if the weather looks shit hot. Either that or change the moon into a Death Star and leave the galaxy intact.
I'll do another video (from ground level this time), to show all weather/time cycles and share the config with those who want it.
i have meshed my 1.25 files with some of 1.3s files and have seen this as a result:
the too birght cutscenes from 1.25 is now GONE yes i said gone. you can now edit your in game graphics settings (brightness, satuturation,contrast) when you do this it ONLY effects cutscenes. thus making cutscenes editable now :)
for the red sky... i am working on meshing the timecyc files together and once done this will get rid of the red sky bug from 1.25 and will also get rid of the blue sky bug of 1.3
as for people saying 1.3 is too bright or colorful open your iceshader.fx with notepad++ and on line numbers 9 and 13 are the settings you need to edit. for example: line 9 says
float EColorSaturation=1.0; change 1.0 to 0.80 or whatever you like. keep in mind it may take a few trys to get it perfect for your taste. and for line 13 says
float EBrightnessV1=1.0; change 1.0 to 0.70 or whatever you like. keep in mind it may take a few times to get it perfect for your taste.
i hope this explaination helps out people having trouble with 1.3 and once im done with my icenhancer 1.25-1.3 edit i will upload it here somewhere on this site and give you all a link in the comments here

re: settings...I tried many configurations, But it takes a while to tweak(guesstimate)/load game/cycle weather-times/say "hmmmm"/quit/retweak and repeat. Anyway, happy with what i'm using right now.

TO GET THIS MOD TO WORK AS INTENDED, YOU WILL MOST LIKELY NEED A FRESH INSTALL!
I was having all kinds of issues, but I uninstalled everything, reinstalled, updated to 1.0.4.0, and now it's working PERFECTLY!
Give it a shot, guys. It'll save you a lot of aggravation.
Try opening up the iceconfig.ini with notepad++, then under the 'ENVIRONMENT' header, change the 'ReflectionAmountMultiplier=2.0' to like 1.0 or 0.6 even, you don't want to put it too low as your cars will lose their reflection as well. Just play with it till you find something you like.
I'm just a noob, so i'm not sure if that's the best way to adjust that 'wetness' you're talking about, but it seemed to help when i tested it. Good luck.

That's what i have my settings at, yours will be different. The 'Ambient..' settings(there's 4 of them) under the same header will also adjust lighting dramatically, even with the slightest change, but i don't think they effect night and day, i think it's an overall effect.
As stated above i'm a noob, there may be better ways to adjust the lighting in the game, but play around with it and see if it helps at all.
Thanks for the response. I tried it, but it's still not working. The specular highlights are just too intense I think. It's really noticeable late afternoon/early evening with the weather set to sunny. Any other ideas?

Although, i didn't notice a huge diff adjusting the specular attributes, only the reflectionamount. But perhaps adjust all of them together might help. If you end up finding your solution let me know.
I also really want to find out how to remove reflection from some car wheels, as some of mine are super, super reflective. As if they've been waxed to perfection, lol. Not all of them, but some. Perhaps that's an individual vehicle file, i don't know.

As i said, i'm not getting any reflection off anyone's face, only clothes, and the adjustments i made in ENVIRONMENT seemed to help that. I will try to test the above method, see if it effects people.

Whose are the settings i used the stars are a bit blurred do to the motion blur but it gets rid of the whole universe over liberty city.
this is the line i edited and noticed the most difference with...

this line is found in iceconfig.ini file. change the above line to something similar to line below
[BLOOD]
ReflectionAmount=0.6
SpecularPower=100
also changing the specular power might help. in verison 1.25 of this mod when you edited the
"ReflectionAmount" it made it so niko looked wetter/slimer when rasied above 1.0 and made him less slimer when lowered below 1.0
i would suggest lowering the 1.0 to 0.6 but it will take a few trys to get it right for you.. also keep in mind im "kadajsilverwing" and im using version 1.0.7 so for all of those using a version previous to this "1.0.4" being an example. i havent tested this on 1.0.4 or any version previous of 1.0.7

I've installed the 1.0.4.0 patch, put all of the additional files needed and the game works fine without the iCEnhancer gfx mod. As soon as I install it I get this error at game lunch. I've tried the 1.3 and the 1.35 versions, same error. When I rename the d3d9.dll the game can load but everything looks too bright and washed-out.
Can you help?

but WARNING don't forget to delete FileCheckFix.asi,
Trainer.asi,Trainer and xlive.dll if you are using ELFC. But you will
need them with 1.0.7.0 try it it may work.. if not you just have to
find the ones compatible with 1.0.7.0 as this was made for 1.0.4.0 and
also download ScriptHookDotNet.asi and ScriptHookDotNet (ini)you will
need them eventually and also make sure that you keep your working
dsound.dll, ScriptHook.dll and ScriptHook as "H1Vltg3 Mod Package"
ScriptHook and dsound.dll are for 1.0.4.0 and it will overwrite every
thing so before installing make sure that you don't overwrite what is
working already but if you have 1.0.4.0 you can use every single thing
on this H1Vltg3 Mod Package it's just a question of copy and paste and
play Lol mabe on 1.0.7.0 as well just try
Don't forget to backup your game folder IV all of it it,s 15 to 16GB big just make sure you copy all of it just in case something goes wrong you just delete the corrupt IV folder and copy the backup the knew folder on it's place... simple. Its quicker than install the all game again Lol
Note:
if your game crush just when it's about to start it's because something change or you edit some thing so therefore the game is now different as the previous save game... you see every time you mod some thing before you start game again you have to go to your rockstar folder and delete the save games folder
