RealityIV 1.62 Timecycle Mod

by DKT70
Please explain why you're reporting this file:

RealityIV is a timecycle mod for GTAIV/EFLC.
No ENB is required, only a full GTAIV installation and any patch from 3 - 7/EFLC patches.
Included in this mod are edited shaders by me, including patched shaders for DoF or no DoF, dpending on preference, and 2 timecyc files for DoF/No DoF.
All files required are included in the archive.
Lastly, any feedback most welcome.

In 1.62 is Adaptation for Sunny, and Extra Sunny 2, along with a custom Skydome for my clouds.

OMG, cant wait to try this.

This file needs faster approval. ^^

You're awesome DKT70.

Thanks for your work DKT. I already know this's gonna be awesome graphic mod!
Posted on March 13, 2011 3:21PM by 19phelps92
the approval is stalling cause the admin who tested it, want this only for himself.. ;)

Posted on March 13, 2011 6:46PM by nvidia31337
Just to add, Please use ALL included files (shaders aren't quite so important), especially the timecyclemodifiers - they contain indoor fixes - and the skydome texture file which contains a custom cloud texture. To test the indoors try visiting the Museum in the central park.

Fonia5 noticed in testing that Extra Sunny is a bit dark, if anyone else also agrees post your thoughts here and I'll look into it.

The Adaptation only works in Sunny, and Extra Sunny 2 from 6am - 8pm. To test this, set your trainer to something like 9am and don't lock the time, allow the time to count up - and drive around in first-person view for maximum effect. Sunny is the extreme adaptation, and Extra Sunny 2 is more subtle.

Thanks for downloading, let me know what you think with some feedback.

Note #2:

There are custom-made trees in the video above, I am currently making and beta testing them, if anyone wants to try them the link is here.

Feedback most welcome, they are early beta trees, so expect things not yet finished.
Posted on March 13, 2011 7:12PM by DKT70
DKT70 thanks so much! The number one thing that I wanted was new tree textures!

Your Graphical mods are really amazing But the patch looks very different, not as a video :-( I do not know if I'm doing something wrong But perhaps it is not possible Please can someone tell me how it looks at your patch ?
Posted on March 13, 2011 7:39PM by RidderProGame
This is awesome!! :) But yea, a bit too dark indoors or too bright out doors. It's one or the other. But I LOVE this mod! :) Thank you!
Posted on March 13, 2011 9:32PM by Shinn
your work is awesome! thank you!
Posted on March 14, 2011 2:26AM by gunnery18
I just re-tested patch and it looks identical to

I do all my modding in patch 3, and my testing in patch 7, so I know they both work fine.

Also, if you see extreme dark and bright on Sunny and Extra Sunny 2, then this is exactly what adaptation is, it self-adjusts the light depending on the area you are in.
Posted on March 14, 2011 5:35AM by DKT70
DKT70, thanks, finally no more waiting. but i have 1 issue is visualSettings.dat, after replace with 1.62, few cars have missing parts or transparent. so now i'm using Reality 1.62+1.61 visualSettings.dat.
Posted on March 14, 2011 8:55AM by johnnywcw
I have been experimenting with Vehicle LOD Distances.

Go back to the 1.62 visualsettings.dat and look for this line

# Lod distances for vehicles

Change the values underneath that line to look like this.

# Lod distances for vehicles

car.lod.distance.high 20.00

car.lod.distance.low 80.00

Now try that and see how you get on.
Posted on March 14, 2011 9:02AM by DKT70
DKT70, Well again I do not want to be intrusive. I've tried everything, but it does not work for me as you. It really looks great. Video and Screen 3 is particularly amazing. Good work.
Posted on March 14, 2011 9:22AM by RidderProGame
RidderProGame, try this

Run the game with the filecheckfix.asi in your gtaiv folder then try it.

I don't see why it wouldn't run, this is just a timecycle mod which should look and run the same across all patches and DLC including EFLC.
Posted on March 14, 2011 11:33AM by DKT70
DKT70, thanks for the respond, work fine now, no more missing parts or transparent. excellent works
Posted on March 14, 2011 11:46AM by johnnywcw
DKT70, I apologize for the confusion. I reinstall GTA and now works. I do not understand why it did not work before. but you look better mode.
Posted on March 14, 2011 12:22PM by RidderProGame
The 3rd screenshot of the buildings looks excellent, nice work.

Posted on March 14, 2011 2:14PM by thermite
Using right now with this mod! :D Absolutely love it. But is the extreme dark and bright due to which patch you're using for GTA IV?
Posted on March 14, 2011 7:09PM by Shinn
>>But is the extreme dark and bright due to which patch you're using for GTA IV?

No, only for Sunny adaptation, not patch dependant. It will eventually be toned down, it's extreme just for this test.
Posted on March 14, 2011 7:26PM by DKT70
DKT70, I noticed that game with your mode though occasionally flashing around 12 more hours with sunny mode. Are there any improvements that correct bugs?
Posted on March 15, 2011 12:54AM by RidderProGame
The only bugs I know of that are still present are the indoor bugs where it's either too bright or too dark, this is a hard thing to fix because most of it involves playing the storyline part of the game to gain access to certain buildings/houses.

Other than that, I cannot see any timecyc bugs, everything works as I intended.
Posted on March 15, 2011 7:00AM by DKT70
Ok and in the future, you somehow manage extra sunny?
Posted on March 15, 2011 10:31AM by RidderProGame
Ahh I see, are there future Graphics patches from you? If you are, I hope to see them :D They're friggen awesome.
Posted on March 15, 2011 2:31PM by Shinn
Thanks for all the comments.

There will be another patch, I will probably make Extra Sunny a adaptation weather, but subtle and more like Extra Sunny 2. And also work more on indoors. For now, please test the Museum in the Central Park area, see if you like it, it will still have some small pocket areas where the light still changes, but it's better than what it was.

For now, I am back working on the ENB version of this. I have adaptation working in ENB 0.82 now, and it looks nice. A video will be put up on Youtube later in the week.
Posted on March 15, 2011 4:06PM by DKT70
DKT70, thanks very much about spent your times on this. and now we have lovely look graphics in GTA4.BTW I also interesting to try your new ENB version too. just don't forget we can help to test even in BETA stage.
Posted on March 15, 2011 9:59PM by johnnywcw
Here are a few early shots from RealityIV ENB

I am working on a video to show it's progress, so hopefully that will be up this week.
Posted on March 16, 2011 5:35AM by DKT70
The best graphic mod i ever test.

Need just Anti aliasing ( i run under 1.0.4). I will try 1.0.7 if i can but i'm affraid my computer not resist ! lol.

Bravo Monsieur DKT70.
Posted on March 16, 2011 5:24PM by crom
DKT70, those pictures ENB version look nice, hope soon you can release it.
Posted on March 16, 2011 11:12PM by johnnywcw
Jesus DKT, the ENB version has some great even lighting.
Posted on March 17, 2011 7:27AM by 2TimesACharm
That lighting is using that same as this mod, adaptation. When used properly it can really look amazing, and Boris' ENB adaptation is amazing but also very unused.

Crom, if you have a modern ATI card, 5xxx or 6xxx card, try using MLAA on GTAIV. It might work well, and it might not, but worth a try.
Posted on March 17, 2011 8:59AM by DKT70
i have a HD5770. Ok i will try this as soon is possible.
Posted on March 17, 2011 2:06PM by crom
I have just installed this mod and it has made my game look just beautiful, thank you so much for sharing this amazing mod.

It has has one side effect of raising my fps - cool :D

verry nice mod even without ENB crap /keep up the good work :p
Posted on March 18, 2011 10:55AM by canaby001
My game keeps crashing when I install any patch higher than :(
Posted on March 18, 2011 9:58PM by Shinn
The only things I have found that crash a timecycle mod are,

1. IE 9 beta installed, not sure if this still occurs with the release version. Uninstalling IE 9 worked for me.

2. Using the wrong shaders on the wrong patch, always use default, or patched default, don't mix various patches.

3. Missing files from a bad install or upgrade.

I would either reinstall then try again, or remove Reality completely, install required patch, test game to make sure it works, then install ONLY the timecyc.dat from this mod and test. If it works then install the visualsettings.dat and test. If it still works then the skydome and the timecyclemodifiers.

Process of elimination until it works.
Posted on March 18, 2011 10:20PM by DKT70
OK i've try to play with the 1.0.7 for AAliasing but the FPS was very bad (~20fps) and with the "P" touch it's worst.

So with the 1.0.4 the P touch is Much finer and the game turn at ~35 fps.

Thx again.

Posted on March 20, 2011 9:02PM by IM Boy
Hello DKT, posting again.

Well first thing that I have to say is that you are doing an amazing job on this one, seriously.

Secondly, those trees are great.

Thirdly, sunny seems too bright for me. Anyway I was thinking there is a lot of stuff on the internet regardless of the DOF.. But could you tell me what exactly DOF does here and if it is better to use DOF/No DOF version on HD3870 GC? I mean, if you could respond like you would respond to a big newbie, cause that's what I am. Haha, thanks man.
Posted on March 26, 2011 8:22AM by 19phelps92
For Sunny, just make sure you are not using a locked time in the trainer, or it will stay bright. Sunny self-adjusts as you move around the city, so it's bright one minute, dark another. It's not perfect, and will be tweaked in 1.63.

DoF means the far background gets blurred while the foreground remains sharp, it's a graphic-only effect that you wouldn't see in real life. It's designed to give depth, so the eye concentrates on the main foreground.

There is no performance difference to use it or not, only user preference. You switch it on and off ingame while playing by pressing the "P" key. Some like it, some hate it, I personally don't like it but offer it for those that do.
Posted on March 26, 2011 11:35AM by DKT70
Ah, okay.

Thanks for the information. :)
Posted on March 27, 2011 9:18AM by 19phelps92
I really love this mod, I have a few issues with it though. Fire looks really weak, you barely even notice fire. Then there's one other issue, with this mod Niko's glasses aren't transparent anymore (If now Niko happens to wear glasses).

I'm running version and RealityIV is the only graphical mod I'm using, got the right contrast, brightness and saturation set as well.
Posted on March 28, 2011 1:13PM by Rake
I will look into the glasses issue when I get some time. Is it all the time and in any place, Indoor and Outdoor ? Or specific places ?
Posted on March 28, 2011 3:05PM by DKT70
Indoor, outdoor, anytime, any weather the glasses are 0% transparent, I've tried several different glasses too. Non-transparent glasses I can live with though (although it is a bug that should be fixed), it's the fire that is my biggest concern, you know what might cause that? Is it a simple line in some file or is it something more advanced? Maybe you just prefer the fire like this but it's barely visible imo. I can take screenshot and show you, maybe it's just something weird with my specs.
Posted on March 28, 2011 7:29PM by Rake
Actually nevermind about the fire, it's all good now when I changed to the DoF version.
Posted on March 28, 2011 7:33PM by Rake
The glasses are the problem of the glass shader, me messing around with opacity settings. Simply go back to stock shaders or DoF shaders and it will fix the glasses, just tested this now and it works.

So, to anyone getting non-transparent glasses just go back to the shaders marked STOCK, using your correct patch version.

I will fix this properly in 1.63.
Posted on March 29, 2011 4:41AM by DKT70
This mod looks awesome sometimes and looks like * during others. Brightness is too much. Adaptation is ugly with GTA 4. And there are several bugs I don't like. Not worth installing on GTA 4:(
Posted on April 1, 2011 6:53PM by ytrewq4201
By the way mate, I use Brayan090's graphics mod now and it is great
Posted on April 1, 2011 6:58PM by ytrewq4201
I'm not your mate, "Dude", and I don't think you have a clue as to what you are talking about, so no loss there.
Posted on April 2, 2011 4:23AM by DKT70
I have to say: it's just amazing~~
Posted on April 4, 2011 8:27PM by wesleychen1127
So, is this version compatible with ENB 0.081 or do I have to use your ENB specific version? If so, could you please post a link to it? :)
Posted on April 24, 2011 10:28AM by Flava0ne
that is one great mod!!!! but if you could possibly change the lights of the vehicles because I can't see a * the light is only on vehicle and when it's dark little light on the road would be nice apart from that the mod rocks :)
Posted on April 24, 2011 12:53PM by k0k066
comment update: sorry the mod is great I reinstalled and it's ok my fault the mod rocks!!!!!
Posted on April 24, 2011 1:08PM by k0k066
This is NOT compatible with ENB. You can mess around with various ENB versions and settings if you wish, but you are on your own if you try this.
Posted on April 30, 2011 6:11AM by DKT70
I love this mod :D
Posted on May 4, 2011 8:35AM by FANTOMTRON
I tested and the timecyc.dat is too bright. When the sun hits the peds or Niko, the face turns white-bright!I dunno what happen! If I use only your timecyclemodifiers.dat works fine!!And your Road texture is awesome!!Thanks!10/10
Posted on May 5, 2011 7:20AM by ullan
@ DKT70, please help me out bro ^^

Check my screenshot on link below, my GTA4 got totally messed up..

I am on and all i did was copy paste the common and pc folder

I am on steam, if that matters at all thank you!!
Posted on May 11, 2011 8:20PM by homeskill3t
To the above, try just copying the timecyc.dat only, make sure you use stock files for the rest of the mod. If this works, then try the timecyclemodifiers - all 4 of them - Then the skydome, etc..

Process of elimination until you find the problem. To me, it looks a bit like shaders. I tested this on patch 7 retail DVD, and it worked as well as patch 3.
Posted on May 13, 2011 6:02AM by DKT70
woooow, nice!!! I can't extract those "shades" files, but it looks awesome without too
Posted on July 6, 2011 5:14PM by stonee206
Thank you for this wonderful mod!

Perfect, except one thing: brightness when sun hits buildings, cars and people. It's simply too bright!

What line can you edit in the Timecycle to fix this? Thx :-)

One of the best mods around fo' sho'!
Posted on August 11, 2011 5:57PM by ubtri
Just to clarify then, the above screenshots and the vids were made without an ENB config?
Posted on August 11, 2011 6:58PM by Moork
Moork, Yes, no ENB.

Hey untri, nice to see you here.

Working on 1.7 as I speak.

v1.7 will now look even closer to ENB, still not close enough imo, and will now use external shaders such as HDR, MPC sharpener, FXAA, bleach bypass, etc..

There will be no more bright problems, all white objects no longer lose definition and blacks are no longer crushed due to lack of HDR.

The lighting as had a huge overhaul, looking so much better and natural than before.

Release should be 2 weeks, roughly, just need to finish converting 1.62 settings to the newer 1.7 sets.

how can i run ENB on my acer 5742G : Auto Switch Graphic (Intel HD 128mb {Primary} / Geforce GT 540M 2gb {Alternate})

without ENB it goes smooth on Geforce but when i add ENB it runs on Intel HD 128 like *.... help me !

mod looks great dude. However I installed this along with your sharpen filter and road textures, and they work only on tBoGt and not on TLAD. I can see no difference in TLAD (looks like stock graphics). Now the visual difference between the two are like night and day. Any way to get it to work on both games?
Posted on September 21, 2011 5:21AM by jimmyjapan88
DKT, I've signed in here just to thank you for all your incredible job. RealityIV has been a close companion while playing GTAIV (1.0.7) and EFLC (1.1.2). The 1.7 announcement give me even more hope for a near perfect experience, without any glitch or sacrifice, yet so common in GTAIV Mod scene. My best regards from Brazil, mate!

Ok, so if i understand everything, if i apply this mod on my EFLC (fresh install) whithtout installing any other ESB (no esb on my EFLC folder) i can have exactly the same render as your pictures and video

The rain on the road can be like your pictures without ESB?

Great work!

But one thing bothers me, many interiors are REALLY dark inside ( e.g. the bank)

during the daytime. It's nothing major, but it's kind of annoying.

Turning up the brightness doesn't help, is there any way to fix this properly?

Posted on August 8, 2012 10:42AM by Shikato
then you shoud use ENB
Posted on August 26, 2012 3:37PM by aztec2012
I'm about to use this on EFLC, in the pictures the rain particles look too dark in my opinion. Am I able to change the settings for that?
Posted on November 30, 2012 1:43PM by DRUZZRIN12296
I have been looking for something like this for a while now. All the ENB's I have tried either are way too much or I can't see a thing indoors. Tried this and I like a lot of it, I still have issues with too dark indoors or at night in some places, or too bright in some places. On the plus side I suffered no fps hit using it, and in many areas it looked perfect. I think DKT is on the right track with this though. Good work, just because its not perfect on my rig doesn't make it any less a good mod. Thanks for all the hard work DKT!
