Just something simple I whipped up in my spare time. A few backgrounds for Type O Negative, Danzig, and Marilyn Manson. Enjoy!

Installation: Extract all 13 themes from the .zip archive using whatever means you prefer: I like WinZip, and that's what I used to archive the files. Like any other phone theme mod, use OpenIV or Spark to open up your game directory to pc/data/cdimages/scripttxds/ then just replace what's there with this.
You can rename the file to any other number to replace whichever theme you desire.

I really wanted to do these as fully functional themes with proper logo and animation, but I cannot figure out how to convert to .png format without losing tranparency -- if anyone can help me out on this, I'd appreciate it.

I don't know what to tell you. I use these myself, and they're exactly how I have them set up in my game. It's really a very basic "mod" -- hell, to call it a mod is a joke. It's just swapping out the .png/.dds files associated with the phone themes. I suggest getting off XP, but then maybe that's not the problem. You were the only one who had a problem with my Dark Knight phone theme, so I'm thinking that the problem is on your end. Sorry for the trouble.
and it's played games like Brothers In Arms, NFS, Duke Nukem Forever, and it crashes when this is installed....

Well, like I said, all it is swaps out the image files of the phone themes, nothing else. I might point out that I use 1.0.7.0, so there might be a compatability issue or something. I hadn't thought of that until now. Are you using an older patch? That might be what's causing the issue. Other than that, I haven't the foggiest.
@element2586: Your comment confuses me: are you saying you like the bands, or not?
