This is our first mod for GTA IV on PC. This allows the player to create an electrical shockwave that will shut down everything within 20m or so. This will affect all pedestrians, vehicles, and objects. As a bonus, you can use the shockwave ability inside a vehicle, in the water, and even in the air.

Use Right-Control to create a shockwave. You can enter 'sw_showCommands' into the console to access mod options.

Awesome I love it! Goes really well with the Iron Man mod too!
Posted on August 3, 2013 1:41AM by saxman2324
Awesome mod!!! In the next version there could be like a 'stealth' attack, that would just disable all electronics, not kill anyone or throw cars. But still, 9/10

It's a pretty cool mod but I don't think you should have called it "EMP" anything.

1) EMP pulses generally do not cause destruction like that. They cause short circuiting of electronic devices through an increase of voltage. You would not see the kind of explosions or kinetic force featured in this mod.

2) EMP range tends to be quite large, I know there is a limit with the game but that limit is above 20m. If an EMP device can take out any car within 20m it will be able to take out headlights and things of that sort 50m away let's say.

3) Human beings are not affected by EMP pulses in such a manner as with this script. Granted if they were close enough to the pulse they could recieve a massive electrical shock, but considering the pulse strength is 20m this wouldn't happen unless they were literally touching the device.

4) Other electronic devices in-game such as car headlights, street lamps, etc are still functioning after the pulse; EMP would knock all those out.

An EMP device basically sends out high energy waves of various frequencies as a means of increasing current/voltage in electronic devices. This mod is not really like that. It's more accurately described as something like "lighting man" or "electro shock mod".

Cheers and good work =)

Please make a version where only lights or car head lights and even the building lights would stop working and remove the visible electricity as if it was a power outage and make it so we will be able to activate this mode by our cell phone so It would be like watch dogs, oh and if we are being chased by the police then they won't be able to see us and would start searching for us.

Everything you need is inside the Readme.txt file included with the mod. :)

Does this work with 1.0.4.0? I keep getting crashes after installing this, its not my scripthook though cause JuloNIB's gtav character switch works fine
Posted on August 7, 2013 11:48AM by pr0t0typ3IV
I can't get this to work at all, lol. Looks awesome though.
Posted on August 7, 2013 1:57PM by Wiggleson
@ prOtOtype3IV: It was tested with no issues on all versions. Can you send me a message with as many details as possible so we can fix it? Thanks!

@ Wiggleson: What version of GTA IV are you using? Do you have the correct files (ScriptHook, C++Runtime, etc?)
Posted on August 7, 2013 3:25PM by SteveO
I'm using 1.0.4.0 - I have some form of ScriptHook (Sorry, new to modding), but I don't think I have C++ i'll go and look for it. Sorry the Readme file wasn't clear enough for a newbie, lol.
Posted on August 7, 2013 4:05PM by Wiggleson
Actually, I have C++, so I have no idea what's wrong.

When in game it starts to do the animation just before the shockwave, but then it says 'an error has occured'.

I put the files in my 'scripts' file in GTAIV folder.
Posted on August 7, 2013 4:08PM by Wiggleson
If you open the console, does it tell you the error? We will make the readme more detailed in the future. :)
Posted on August 7, 2013 4:12PM by SteveO
How do I open the console? xD
Posted on August 7, 2013 4:17PM by Wiggleson
Press the tilde key (`) - above tab :)

It needs to be extracted to the "Grand Theft Auto IV\scripts" directory. Do you get any errors in the console?
