Please explain why you're reporting this file:

v1.3.2 - last updated January 15, 2013

More realistic reload model!
- Switching weapons no longer refills the gun's clip.
- Reloading discards the remaining ammo in the clip (except for shotguns that don't use magazines).


This is a script for HazardX's .NET scripthook. Just place RealReload.cs and RealReload.ini into the 'scripts' folder of the .NET scripthook.

Note: If you don't use the R key for reloading, you'll have to change the key setting in RealReload.ini.


— Doesn't work with gamepads, unfortunately.
— When you switch weapons, your ammo will briefly look like the clip was refilled. As soon as you can aim and shoot, the ammo numbers will revert back to what they were when you last used the gun.

So if i have this straight,when it subtracts the remaining ammo,it's gone! Simulating losing the ammo due to discarding the mag?

That's right, it simply imitates real life so that reloading is more tactically important...

Should you reload now and waste some ammo, or should you save those bullets and risk having to reload at a bad time later?

I like it then, anything that adds realism to this game is a great addon. Im a pretty big Arma and Operation Flashpoint fan so im all about reality. Nice mod man! 10/10

one problem, it says it is supposed to be a .vb file that i place into the scripts folder, but when i click the download button, nothing actually downloads as it takes me to a text file with the script stuff/info, forgive my ignorance if that is normal? Just never seen it like that before, unless something is wrong with the link i can only guess that i am supposed to save the .txt and then rename it to .vb ?

Kind of. When you reload, it sets the ammo in the mag to 0 before refilling it. So if the mag has 8 bullets and you reload, you'll lose those 8 bullets.

In vanilla GTA4, reloading just refills the mag and you don't lose anything.

GREAT I was annoyed that guns magically reload after changing it for other gun then back to first gun. It was faster than reloading in some guns.

Eh, I think I found a bug. And I say "I think" because I guess it happened since this mod. Which is, sometimes the reload-animation gets stuck in a loop, and it prevents you from using the/a weapon at all. It's not clear exactly WHEN it happens, but I'm thinking it has to do with reloading and switching weapons, or running out of ammo on one weapon completely, which makes your character throw away the weapon and go to the next... I'm not sure, somewhere in between there. That wasn't a good situation just now, cause I had 5 stars and nowhere to hide. lol

Thanks for the report! Just uploaded a new version which hopefully fixes that bug.

It was caused by firing all the ammo in your clip, starting to reload, then switching weapons. When you switched back, the mod got confused, producing a chain of reloads until you ran out of ammo for that weapon. Shouldn't happen again, but let me know if you see any issues.

I played TBoGT mission with drug deal in ruins and all weapons are discarded when they are reloaded :/ I can shoot only one clip and then gun disappears.

a feature where the player doesn't throw away an empty gun would be great too. I hate losing my favorite pistol and having to pick up what the officers carry, just because I ran out of ammo for a moment.

Hm, I seem to have a problem with this mod; Whenever I reload the values in the HUD just stay the same. I can keep pressing the reload-key and the animation will happen. It even goes in a loop if I hold down the key, but it never changes what is in the weapons. All I can do is empty the clip and let it reload automatically.

Hm... wait a minute... I do think I have the "boost" (for running) of the WeaponWeight-mod mapped under the same key (r). Would that make a conflict perhaps? Otherwise I don't know what's going on... I think this used to work for me though.
