This car may be an ugly square shaped machine,but that is actually part of its character and its appeal,cars are not allways about just the looks you know! Besides i would pit this car up against just about any modern Audi,BMW,Mercedes or japanese cars,and most likely win,this car is the grandfather of all AWD cars you see on the road today. 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds!! Most cars being built today still cant achieve times like this car could in 1983. watch this video..

sorry to break it to you but this car wouldn't be able to outhandle most new cars with 0 to 60 times in the 6 second range. Its 4wd system isn't as advanced as it used to be and its suspension isn't as firm as sport cars today, not only that but its also a lot harder to control at the limit. It wont match the grip of today's newer cars but its still fast. Btw its 0 to 60 time is 4.8 and it does that with only 306 hp a 300 hp 350z = 5.2 so its still amazing :).

First off,i hate to break it to you.. but i never said it would "out handle" anything,even though you would be seriously wrong if you really believe it couldn't out handle a car in the 6 second range,lmao..but,whatever you say man!

Second,watch the video i provided before,which you clearly ignored..as this video was the source of my information,and it clearly states a 0-60mph time of 4 1/2 (4.5) seconds!!! And before you make claims about how this car handles against more modern cars,AGAIN,you should watch the video!

I did and if you have ever watched these kinda shows they don't produce those times themselves and if you look at most sources that provide the specs of this model they show 4.8 and they actually tested it. Also that video is old and the car the audi was compared with is old and it beat the audi didn't it? And i am sorry to break it to you any modern most modern cars will easily destroy the audi cause its just really old and out of date. Most new BMWs, Audis, Mercedes, and just about any other mark will leave it in the dust maybe the audi will go 0 to 60 faster then some but you just cant compare a 1980s car against new ones cause its like i said before old and out off date and slow compared to them. Its true if you ever looked at lap times of cars from 10 years ago and look at cars that have the same acceleration times the new ones will win, now think of how big of a difference it will be if you compare that audi against a evolution 10... btw that audi is one of my favorite cars and i dont mean to make it look bad or anything but im just stating facts. Its time passed and back then it was a badass.

And before anyone points out who won in the video,it's obvious..but lets not forget the Audi was built in 1983 and the evo 6 in 1998,they are a world apart in technology! The fact that this old Audi even hangs with alot of modern cars is impressive to say the least..now imagine what a lil modernization can acomplish,if you want to get technical!

Btw, 0-60 times can vary immensely from driver to driver,not to mention the variables in weather,road surface,drivetrain, ETC..

And im confused,by testing..don't you mean what they were doing in the video? Cause,you know..im not so sure they have enough of these to pass around for every website on the net that lists it's specs to actually test it. These are VERY rare cars!

Yeah this car is very amazing and people got ahold of the car when it came out i guess. The current sights online prob used those times cause i dont know how they do it but every place i checked has something close to 4.8. But yeah its beyond impressive that the audi kept up with the evo. But then when you think about it the evo is a cheap car almost anyone can buy and the audi was a sports car with a huge price tag.

But yeah i tend to put more stock into video than i do text on a website,especialy when you factor in the variables that i mentioned,considering on the website we know nothing of the driver or the conditions of the environment the test was performed under. I seen most sites are saying 4.8 but i also found a couple sites that stated 4.7 and even one that said 4.6,so,short of one of us having access to a $100,000+ car,i don't think we can really prove it one way or another! Yeah the evo and sti are affordable cars but,as with all technology,it gets better,smaller,and more affordable with time..there would be no evo's or sti's if it were not for this car pioneering AWD (The Grandfather) Can you imagine what an EVO would have cost in 1983 if it were first with those specs?

Yeah without the audi Awd wouldn't be what it is today and 0 to 60 also depends on driver like u said before or i think u did :P. And im sure with the perfect condition and good driver i guess that 4.6 or 4.5 is possible. Audi quattro made audi and rally what it is today. Im sure if an evo was one of the fastest cars you could buy on the market and also a revolution in rally and something totally new im sure it would cost a lot too.

American gas guzzlers,would actualy be just about anything with a v8 or bigger. There are quite a few european gas guzzlers too!maybe not as many as we have,but still.. Like those v10 Audi's and v12 Lambos and ferrari's for an example.

I am not defending GM either,they are my least favorite American car company,but to be fair..they are'nt the only company that puts out cars with low gas mileage :)
