2005 Dodge Grand Caravan «UPDATE»

by RobertBlox / Vice City Crockett
Please explain why you're reporting this file:

After several weeks and many long hours of work, here comes the world's first 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan mod for GTA!

Due to the fact that a lot of people have requested one to be made and since there are no 3D models online, I decided to make one myself and release it to the public.

This mod is based on the Minivan and Cabby models from GTA IV.

- You DO NOT have permission to re-release or distribute this mod!
--> This mod is hosted on GTA4-mods.com ONLY!

--> You cannot modify cabby.wft, cabby.wtd, minivan.wft, minivan.wtd
- If you want to use these mods in a CAR PACK, you must request permission first and give me credit.

To install, you must download OpenIV:

Once you have done this, run OpenIV then go to:
Tools --> Package Installer

Select the .oiv file that you have downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions.

NOTE: You may have to run the Package Installer more than once if you want to install both the Minivan and Cabby versions!

- tall70 created the handling data lines used in this mod!

Please leave a good rating. This mod was not easy to make.

Despite the fact that I've tested this mod over-and-over again, there is always the chance of a bug.

As I stated in the description, please rate this mod fairly.

It was not easy to make and it took me a long time to develop.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and have a Happy New Year!

Thanks for the 10/10 votes so far! :)

I forgot to mention, but this mod also has working SLIDING DOORS!

This is one of the only mods ever for IV other than the GMC Vandura by Smokey to include this feature; however, this is the first with sliding doors that does not require EPM.

So this is what IV's taxi was based off of? Hmm...
Posted on December 25, 2013 10:06PM by Fulcrum
@Fulcrum - Indeed it is; however, the IV Minivan is based on the Dodge Grand Caravan and the Cabby is based on the Chrysler Town & Country version.

This is why the bumper, wheels, and badges are different on the Cabby model. ;)

The reason I only modeled the Dodge and not the Chrysler is because you hardly see luxury taxi cars, and it would have been much harder to make the Chrysler than the Dodge.
Posted on December 25, 2013 10:41PM by RobertBlox
@Fulcrum -

Here is what the GTA Wikia says:

"The Minivan is modeled after the Fourth Generation Dodge Caravan"

"Like the Minivan, the Cabby resembles a fourth generation Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town & Country; for comparison"

Man, nice, 600kb wft+wtd is very nice work. Sure some textures are gonna be lo-res, but i still prefer lo weight models. I didn't install it yet, but i'll do it and test it soon.
Posted on December 25, 2013 10:47PM by tall70
Thanks, tall70! :) They're actually only 400-500kb wft+wtd files.

I will be making more low-weight models in my spare time for fun because my computer can't handle a lot of HQ ones. I can't guarantee when I'll have them ready, but I'll probably do a few more.

The textures are pretty fair and are the same resolution or greater than the original Rockstar ones.

One other mod you can see in the first screenshot is my "Iron Man" edition Audi R8. It's accurate to the first film and only has 24K polys, but it's currently a personal mod.

Thank you for the good ratings so far! :)

Unfortunately, I have already found my mod uploaded to other sites.

Very nice trick with rear door axis

What made you choose oiv? Just curious, looks like older openIV don't have package installer
Posted on December 26, 2013 1:38AM by tall70
Thanks again, tall70. :)

I chose .oiv because I could put the installation and readme all into one. Some players also do not know how to replace the carcols, handling, and vehicles data, so this auto-installation makes it simple and easy and ensures everything is done properly.

Nice! 1.49MB, it's great!
Posted on December 26, 2013 4:07AM by ldfxf
Great one!! however it needs some improvements to make it more accurate to the real one but i'm gonna give you 10/10 because:

1 i love this car

2 i know how hard is it to scratch make somthing in zmodeler

3 you did there a bunch of GOOD WORK!!

and i have a question could you also make longer version

with steel wheels or hubcaps like this:

? and again that you very much!!
Posted on December 26, 2013 6:42AM by SomeBrony
nothing difference between the old one's.
Posted on December 26, 2013 7:10AM by RSocialClubTV1
you can do so because it only wtd + wft file remain, as is the download I do not know how to install the so change that please..!!

on otherwise the car looks very good..
Posted on December 26, 2013 8:56AM by TimeOut
i would never think in a million years someone would want a Dodge Caravan in gta
Posted on December 26, 2013 10:19AM by ProudNoob3
This will defiantly help people who have real cars. Though for being made from the GTA minivan, it doesn't look bad. There are some inaccuracies like the mirrors and door handles. And I would also move the tires in a little and raise it a bit, but it is still a good start.
Posted on December 26, 2013 10:57AM by Thundersmacker
@ldfxf - Thanks! :)

@SomeBrony - Thank you. I'll see about the steel rims and the hubcaps. The main reason I didn't do the hubcaps is because I couldn't find/model them on my own.

@RSocialClubTV1 - You must be joking. The original models are pretty different. The door trim, the door handle placement, the rear lamps, the headlamps, the grille.. I could go on for a while.

@TimeOut - I can give you a manual install, contact me on gtaforums.com. I am "Vice City Crockett" on the forums.

@ProudNoob3 - Uh, because it's a realistic replacement?..

@Thundersmacker - Thanks. I know that it's not 100% accurate, but it's the closest anyone has gotten before. Again, due to my modeling skills, I can't model all of the parts on my own, such as the wheels, door handles, mirrors, etc. I'll keep in mind the detail on the wheels, though. Thanks for pointing that out. :)

So, would anyone like to make a video for this?

Also, to the people who are rating this low, this mod deserves better than an 8..
Posted on December 26, 2013 2:30PM by RobertBlox

I would love to make a vid for ya but how do you want it to look like? simple show of the car or what?
Posted on December 26, 2013 4:26PM by SomeBrony
@SomeBrony - A simple show of the car would be perfect. :)

Something like this, including a scene with the sliding doors:

Thanks for getting back to me so fast! :D

I love this kind of things!!! Keep converting vanilla cars!!!!

They are way better than real car mods (personal opinion)
Posted on December 26, 2013 5:43PM by avandyck
@avandyck - Thanks! :)
Posted on December 26, 2013 5:44PM by RobertBlox
I love this van, my favorite car. Will there be a second version for little fixes exterior wise? It still looks great though
Posted on December 26, 2013 6:46PM by dodge-man271
@dodge-man271 - I will attempt to make the fixes, such as the door handles, but I can not guarantee that I will be able to release a second version.

Thanks for your interest in my mod. :)
Posted on December 26, 2013 6:49PM by RobertBlox
Ok i'll remove it.

I changed handling in more ways. I wanted less leaning too. So just to raise it, if you open it in EditIV in Suspension section/Raise, i used 0.006 and i kicked back slightly up with Center Of Mass "Y" value to 0.07

Whole handling has front wheel drive, i'm not sure if yours or original does and some other suspension differences related to stiffness and leaning. Everything else is same gta4 minivan.

Nice job, tall70!

I updated the file with your new handling for both the Minivan and Cabby. I've also given you credit in a "Contributions" section both on this page and in the file itself. :)

@RobertBlox I'm having temporary issues with my GTA but as soon as its fixed i'm gonna take care of that vid.

Sorry for the delay
Posted on December 27, 2013 3:49PM by SomeBrony
No problem, I appreciate the fact that you're making one. Take as long as you need. :)

Also don't forget to use the updated files before doing so. ;)

I'm sorry Robert , I could not help , looks good from the venture **********
Posted on December 27, 2013 5:41PM by cromchen
@cromchen - That is okay. :) Thank you for supporting my work!
Posted on December 27, 2013 5:42PM by RobertBlox
Please consider few things for your update. The height of cabin from bottom of windows to roof is shorter on real model. Gta4 model looks little goofy with that. Then what Thundersmacker was saying to push wheels tiny bit in to sort of match how it's on pic#7. But just little, pushing them too much would do probably worse. Then look at pic#5 and last one for wheel diameter how original is smaller. Thats very unpopular thing around here, but me personally, i would love to match it close.

Lowering roof is kinda tricky, since it will move straight down, but you have angled pillars, sometimes in more then one direction.
Posted on December 28, 2013 11:00PM by tall70
Thanks for the details, tall70. As with other requests, I will attempt them, but it may take time.

Sorry I couldn't help out more.

Very FUGLY car (really, it is) but great effort to bring REALISTIC cars to GTA - 10/10!!
Posted on December 30, 2014 3:56PM by Adam121
Thanks for the rate, Adam. :)

Are you saying that the car in real life is FUGLY or my attempt to model it? :P
Posted on December 31, 2014 1:28AM by RobertBlox
10/10 - Thank you for creating a minivan with sliding doors! I think that common cars like this in real life are not paid enough attention to by modders. If you want to create another vehicle like this, may I suggest the Toyota Sienna (which is much more common in real life NYC taxi fleets). Also, thank you for making a great-looking vehicle with a "lightweight" size. Perfect for replacing the old newer gen Caravan Cab mod.
Posted on December 31, 2014 4:16AM by PerceptorC5
@PerceptorC5 - Thank you, I very much agree with what you said. :) I am currently working on another vehicle at the moment, but I did have the Sienna in mind since (as you mentioned) it is commonly seen in NYC.

I will see if it would be possible to make/convert the Sienna.
Posted on January 1, 2014 11:50PM by RobertBlox
@RoberBlox: I can't decide.. I cringe a little every time I See the car on the Road.. so it translates in-game as well.

Could you do the 84-90 Model Caravan... I Think it's similar to Moonbeam... that'd be awesome.

We will have 4 Generations of Caravans in the game.

Posted on January 5, 2014 11:50PM by Adam121
@Adam121 - I have models of the 1986 Caravan (or 1987, can't remember which) and a basic 1994 Caravan, so those projects are in mind. :)

I can't guarantee when I'll be able to convert them, if at all, due to my busy schedule outside of GTA.
Posted on January 6, 2014 1:56AM by RobertBlox
Nice...9/10 but i want a 1999 chrysler town and country or the 1999 dodge caravan
Posted on November 29, 2014 10:10PM by last2012
Could you make a 1999 chrysler town and country or something of that nature? I understand it's hard but it would be perfect.
Posted on February 15, 2015 8:43AM by last2012
Hello last2012. Sorry for the late response, I don't really get to check mod comments anymore.

That would definitely be a great car to have in-game. I completely agree!

I can't promise that I can do it, but I will keep it in mind. It's definitely a classic car!

One of the Caravan is already available, though it is a somewhat crude model:
