I would've liked right hand driver's side, but the other one I found like that, well, its impossible to get in the car, the character just walks into the car forever...

Geeze..people. YOU CANNOT USE ANYTHING HERE ON XBOX OR PS3. People complaining about what it replaces (Lexix, HUFtastic), evolve a little and ADD it instead. I keep an open slot for when I grab a new mod from smoke, 3p, or any of the good modders.

How to install new cars--

Files you need from GTAIV/common/data: carcols.dat, cargrp.dat, default.dat, images.txt

Others files: OpenIV, Your new car files


While editing, ALWAYS follow the format of the file (space, CAPS, everything). Don't add blank new lines.

Open GTA4/common/data/default.dat with notepad and add the new strings below.. These new values will point the game to your new cars Handling and texture(.ide) files.


default.dat -> add "HANDLING common:/data/newhandling.dat" and "IDE common:/data/newvec.ide" at the bottom

IDE common:/data/default.ide

IDE common:/data/vehicles.ide

IDE common:/data/peds.ide

ANIMGRP common:/data/animgrp.dat

...etc etc etc...

LBDATAFILE common:/data/leaderboards_data.xml

LBICONSFILE independent:/textures/Leaderboards.itd

HANDLING common:/data/newhandling.dat

IDE common:/data/newvec.ide

Now create a new img file using OpenIV, name it newveh.img. This is where you will install your new car files using OpenIV.

Add all of your new car files(wtd & wft) to newveh.img (if car name has been used in vehicles.img, you need to rename your new car) then file/rebuild and close OpenIV.

Now you need to point the game to your newveh.img file, so you need to open common/data/images.txt and add the following line to the bottom.


images.txt -> add this line to the end-> "platformimg:/models/cdimages/newveh 1"

platformimg:/data/maps/east/bronx_w 0

Next you need to edit carcols.dat and add a new line for every new car you install, or replace the lines of cars you're replacing. If the car you installed did not come with a carcols value, then copy the value from a car that you like the colors on, and use it's numbers with your cars name. Add that line to common/data/carcols.dat, it's the same idea with handling.


MyNewCarName, 0,0,1, 35,35,127, 1,1,3, 17,17,34, 95,95,90,

Now create new file GTA4/common/data/newhandling.dat and place your new cars handling information inside. Again, if your car did not come with handling values, use the values of a similar car but with your new cars name at the beginning.

Lastly, create new file GTA4/common/data/newvec.ide and place all of your new cars vehicle.ide information inside here.

mycar, mycar, mycar, MYCAR, COMET, VEH@LOW, NULL, 1, 999, 0.2621, 0.2621, 0, 5, 1.0, 0, noboot+sports



vehshare_truck, vehshare



Note COMET is unchanged, because the 5th value(COMET) refers to the cars sound, and must point to an original game vehicle name or your car will be silent. (Comet, Infernus, Turismo, SuperGT, etc)


**Now open and edit GTA4/common/data/cargrp.dat, and add your new car names after each "turismo".**


-Make sure these new files are placed into "Grand Theft Auto IV/common/data"

carcol.dat, cargrp.dat, default.dat, images.txt, newvec.ide, newhandling.dat

-Make sure your new "newveh.img" is placed in "Grand Theft Auto IV/pc/models/cdimages/"

-If you get error "model not found" when trying to spawn a new car, made sure you've added it's information to newhandling, newvec, newveh, carcors, AND cargrp.

@chaosdesire, it took me a while to figure out why also. its because your not editing the handling.dat and vehicles.ide files with the info given in the readme of MOST car mods. this mod is in beta as it states in the readme, so, it doesnt have a handling line or cehicles line yet.

Have you guys ever been drifting but then there is objects in yours way such as street post's, cars, and trash cans well i just made the BEST drifting handling.dat line ever your car ways 99999 pounds and blows through anything in its way and drifter soo good enjoy.
