Tired of that boring old Rocket Launcher? Like Sci-Fi/Futuristic Guns?
Well, here ya go then!

-Quality model
-Quality textures including Normalmaps & Glowmaps
-Sound Effects
-Custom projectile w/ texture (my lame attempt at modeling, it's basically a solid red cone of doooooom lol! Second to last pic shows it.)
-Matching Icon (Colorless; my first try at making an Icon, and without any guidance at that! I'm quite happy with it! Check it out @ the last pic)

Now on to the bad news: Unfortunately the left hand clips through the gun. This is a limitation of the GTAIV anims, but I still tried my best to make it look halfway decent.

Why didn't anyone tell me that the projectile wasn't hidden inside the gun correctly? -_-

Use molotov as projectile to have fire ball like bullet. I have it for another alien weapon. Only bad thing is glass brake sound on impact in compressed ivaud so it can't be changed.

I tried... All I could get was a blue flash that looked like crap with the red flames.

I have some Star Wars models converted but don't want to release them yet because I want the laser beam projectiles to do normal damage like a bullet, not explode or catch people on fire. And we can't have Star Wars guns without laser beams!

Quite the dilemma...

In that case you could maybe use grenade as projectile which can have it's own flash of any color, but it does not explode with flame in it so thats good. You would have to get damage down to very little so cars would not explode immediately and ofcourse no explosion on impact in xml, then change explosion sound to something else. Sounds like homework for whole weekend.

Thats for projectile type of weapon, but beams, i guess you have to team up with somebody with more knowledge about this. Maybe it can be done with script and flash light beam.

Well I just had a red cylinder that hides inside the weapon much like this fusion cannon, it looked halfway decent, but the only results I got so far are it either exploded, caught people on fire, or just pushed them away half a foot or so.

I have been experimenting for a while now, I think that there must be a way to modify one of the unused explosions in explosionFX.dat, to not explode, or to only affect the target it hits... I'll figure it out eventually!

well grenade does too much damage so things explode almost every time, but rocket has in flags that no meter what it will explode on impact, i'm talking about this <flag>EXPLOSION_BASED_ON_IMPACT</flag> so if you use rocket as projectile delete this line and lower damage and you not gonna explode until you shoot many times at same thing. if you use grenade just lower damage alot and etc. Now ofcourse even you lower damage you can still have any force. You can shoot rocket at heli and just push it way out of balance with no damage to it.

Changing that flag is not the answer I came up with. Sadly, it seems that projectiles are hardcoded to make vehicles explode on contact, no matter what damage it is set at. I made a lot of progress messing with explosionFX.dat; I have made it so that the projectile does normal damage to only one ped, and it makes a small red flash and no explosion at all, just how I want it. Cars do explode when it hits them, so I set, under ROCKET, "explodeimpactwithvehiclethreshold" to 100, so it basically bounces off cars, but hits the ground and peds properly...

U have something better going then. I did not experiment much with rockets. I just have molotov set as projectile which is not exploding car with first contact.

Just if you know please about some site with directions how to add custom effects to weapons so i can keep original molotov please let me know in here. I would like to create something like MOLOTOV2 in WeaponInfo.xml and add effect to it in explosionFx.dat using same models and textures just so i can give it different settings to use it as projectile. I was just guesing how to get this done adding also line into object.dat, but no success. Maybe it can't be done i don't know. And good luck with your stuff dude.

I did notice that molotovs don't initially explode the cars, but for some reason when I had the explosiontype set to molotov, the cars exploded... must be because projectiletype is set to rocket, which is necessary for the projectile to fly straight, rather than in an arc (there may be a way to make the molotov projectiletype fly straight however).

I know that adding new lines in explosinFX.dat doesn't work, you have to modify an existing one. Perhaps there's a way around this, but I've just been using PLANE. Custom explosion graphical effects are something completely different though, and I haven't found their location, much less figured out how to make new ones; I also don't know of any tutorials for it.

Anyway, I haven't even been messing with GTAIV for about 5 days now, been playing SW: The Old Republic, and Skyrim :P
